How Choir! Choir! Choir! became Toronto's must-see show

If you ask a question like how did Choir! Choir! Choir! get so big and become the hottest ticket in Toronto, you might not get a simple answer.

Both Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman, who lead the five-year-old musical behemoth, say it's because of the people, the singers and non-singers who come to the smaller weekly sessions as well as the massive event-driven sing alongs. But dig a little deeper into that eager, passionate crowd and you'll find it's a lot more complex.

BIG IN BRASIL!

November 2016 in Rio, DaBu led a huge group of Brasilian celebrites and a bunch of choirs in song. The tune was Um Novo Tempo, an infectious classic that gets re-arranged every year, and now the video is playing all over the country to celebrate the holiday season. If that wasn’t enough, they also appeared on the Programa do Jô (Soares), the Letterman of Brasil, where backstage, they met actress Sophie Charlotte!

Ahhh, We Love You, Weird Al!

Last week, we marked this year’s Halloween with a special Weird Al-Oween night to sing 'Eat It’ and host a Weird Al costume party. Weird Al’s from all eras came out - plus Dancing Gandhi. Kat carved a Weird Al-O-Lantern! Grammy Al (last year’s winner) awarded Weird Alfredo with the top prize for best costume and within an hour or so of posting the vid, Weird Al took notice, tweeted it out and posted on his Facebook page. Then USA Today said a bunch of really nice things about us.

We love you, Weird Al! Come to Toronto and we’ll host you!

CHOIR!CHOIR!CHOIR! ON-STAGE AT TURF!

We did triple-duty at TURF this past weekend amidst rock stars and torrential downpours.

"Choir! Choir! Choir! didn’t sing with Wilco, but they pretty much sang with everyone else. They more than earned their VIP passes, appearing alone on the South Stage, then coming back for Rich Aucoin's parachute-assisted electro set before popping up at the end of Cake to join in on Short Skirt Long Jacket.” –NowMagazine

The full video of our performance with Bahamas on Lost In the Light should be coming soon. In the meantime, enjoy this teaser from CBC.
